I don't have a pair of calipers, but I noticed that my Ruger P89 9mm and Browning 9mm magazines appear to be very close dimensionally in width and depth. I have several high capacity (20 and 30 rnds) P-89 magazines that I bought in the 90's that slide right up into the magazine well of the Browning and fit fine with what feels like similar clearance as the Browning mag. The feed angle appears to be slightly steeper on the Ruger, but I think that if the magazine release notch is placed accordingly in the Ruger magazine it MIGHT work in the Browning and allow me to use my hi-cap P89 magazines in the Browning. Anybody else have too much time on their hands and tried this? Are there other magazines that can be modified and known to work in multiple firearms?

its possible but never expect the slide stop to work right i got one mag i did up it fits in a s&w ruger and sig
i cant remember which but one locks the slide back with one round still in the mag another doesnt lock the slide after last shot and one works ok
of course it was a cheapo aftermarket mag and i liked experimentin this was during the crime bill days pre 2000 and the rule was as long as it worked in the origional gun its ok -
Ruger P85 / 89, S&W 59 and Kel-Tec all have the same body and feed lip shape. Carefully adding a mag catch cutout in the needed location makes for interchangeable mags. Some may not lock open on the last round as Bohoki says.

If the feed lips are not adjusted to factory Tollerances you could be causeing more problems with feeding and ejection and it could cause the weapon to stove pipe causing you to clear the firearm and release the mag and re install, Imagine that happing in a fire fight.
