    East bay Gunsmith

Bought my son a Remington Rolling block in Mauser for Christmas and need to get the chamber casted. Anyone recommend a good smithy in the East Bay?

The most common "mauser" cartridge offered by Remington in rolling blocks will be the 7x57.
Calipers alone will get you the groove diameter at the muzzle and then simple 7x57 headspace gauges will confirm if it's in-spec as a 7x57.
Given a 0.284" groove diameter and an in-spec 7x57 chamber, I would go fire a 7x57 cartridge and see what the fired case looks like compared to the unfired case.

I believe it is 57...went to the store to get some & test fit and the guy basically freaked me out saying you gotta get it cast. Didn’t want to sell me ammo without doing it first. They are good guys & were just looking out for me. They are not local to me so I didn’t get a recommendation on a Smithy

I'm not in the east bay (Monterey Park) but I will do a chamber cast if you want.
I'm in agreement with ar15 that the most common Mauser caliber in the rolling block is 7 Mauser.
I will be available after the holidays.
          Call 323-722-3903 for a appointment.

I can cast your chamber and tell you which variant you have.

"Remington Rolling block in Mauser" doesn't exactly nail it down.

Rollers in 7 Mauser had a slightly different headspace and lower pressure ammo.

There must be a shortage of gunsmiths in the bay area because I had 2 different customers today that drove down from the bay area.
Y'all really ought to get together and rent a van and carpool down here in groups and just book a day for all the jobs of all the people in the carpool to get done.
