    Pitting on Shotgun Barrel (Exterior)

I recently bought a Remington 1100 and found this on the barrel when I took off the forearm...

She has yet to blow up on me...but I'd still like to know whether it will become a safety issue in the future...

Since it's far down the barrel, the pressure is a lot lower there than in the chamber area so it's more cosmetic than anything else. Get a Naval Jelly or another rust remover to clean out and remove any active rust, then degrease it and cold blue it.

Kroil oil works really good at removing surface rust also.
