    AR15 Feed Ramp Alignment

    Hello,

My feed ramps on my AR receiver and barrel do not align causing the gun to jam. Can I just grind to fit? Anything I need to watch out for?

    Post a picture.
You can blend them to fit, but don't deepen them or you will cause a whole new problem.

Yes there is some thing else you need to keep in mind.

Its called "Jump". Jump refers to the relationship between barrel feed ramp and receiver feed ramp. There should be 1.5:1 ratio. Meaning that the distance fore and aft should be half the distance greater than the gap between the barrel and receiver. With me so far?

This means removal of the barrel from the receiver id necessary.

Grinding the two ramps so they are flush can still create problems with lead nose ammo as well as hollow points.

Creating "jump" is a standard in increasing reliability when we build rifles for LE and military.

As ar15barrels stated. you can run into problems if you remove too much material. Remember,, your grinding on the back end of your locking system
