    S&W 640-1 trigger

    Hello All,

Ok, my cousin has one of these nice snub nosed revolvers for CCW. She loves it. But, after about a hour and a half of practice her trigger finger says that's enough. I know, I know, more practice and her finger will get stronger. So no need to go down that road.

However, do any of you know of a gunsmith in the Modesto to Elk Grove area who can do a trigger job on this revolver? Or is it a simple spring kit type of job?

    Thanks, B.

Polishing/stoning and oil is the first step.
    After that, you swap springs.
Sometimes simply detail cleaning the internals and oiling them will make a dramatic improvement.
This is especially true of carry guns which will have all manner of pocket gunk in them.

    Most work performed while-you-wait.

These revolvers were designed for self-defense, not extended range sessions. My S&W Model 60, had a heavy trigger pull. I had the action smoothed and installed lighter springs. I can now use it for extended range sessions.

It took me nearly 5,000 pulls dry firing to get my S&W 442 trigger to become perfect for me.

If you are ever in the Southern California area, I will look at it for you. Could just need a action job to lighten and smooth the trigger. I can do it while you wait.

You were the one who smoothed out my Model 60 trigger that I mentioned in my post above, and you did an excellent job.

Thanks John. I was thinking of having an action job done on it. But I'm outside of Stockton so a quick look see would be out of the question. I had a guy I once knew many many years ago who did an action job on a 686 of mine and I love it. But I have lost contact with that guy. B.
