    Rear sight installation tool

There are so many on the market, it's difficult to determine the the best value/function. I do plan on primarily using it on flat sided Glocks.

    TIA

    What’s your budget?

I found a decent one on Amazon for $40.

    YMMV

NCSTAR VISM rear sight tool is working for me real well. I picked it up from Amazon for a bit less than 60.

Of all the non-gun-specific pushers out there, this is the best one I have found:

It's a solid block of aluminum so it's MUCH stiffer than any of the open frame or square box pushers with all the spacers and screws to try and stabilize the slide.

Barrel, sight and trigger work on most pistols and shotguns.
        Most work performed while-you-wait.

I wonder - would it work on rifles?
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

It needs a flat bottom so if the barrel is octagon, it would probably work.
It would not work on a full round barrel.

Well..... that's what I was kind of thinking. My Winchesters all have octagon barrels.

As long as you can pull the forend wood and the magazine tube off to get access to both the top and the bottom of the barrel to clamp into the sight pusher, it should work.
The tool usually clamps on the top and bottom of a pistol slide as well as using a plastic tipped screw to push the slide against the inside shoulder on the body of the tool.
In this way, the slide is clamped rigid on 3 surfaces so it will not rotate.
The pusher block is just shy of touching the top of the slide so that the pusher will be very close to the dovetail.
It should work the same way on an octagon barrel with a dovetail mounted sight.

For the rear sight, too much trouble. But for the front sight, it might be just the thing!

Plumb, or Vaughan, and Starrett. Oh and a good vise that's bolted to a good base.
