    FAL Guys!

Having a problem with my Para FAL buttsock assembly.

Specifically that humongous "screw" that attaches the whole unit to the lower. I don't have a screwdriver big enough to fit that slot so the best I can do is screw it in with a coin as tight as I can.

Took it out to the range for a bit and the buttstock is wobbly. What can I use to fill the slot so I can get good torque and crank down that screw so it doesn't work loose and start wobbling?

    Thanks,
    Jason

How much slop is there between the mounting ears where the screw goes and the upper receiver? There is slop at the back locking lug which is what allows it to move side to side.
On a couple of mine that were loose I used epoxy or bedding compound to bed both sides of the rear lug. Solved the problem.
I don't want the screw so tight I need to huge screw drivers to take it apart.

You're in the east bay, which part? I can come over with my tool, if I can find it, and let you use it. (No jokes guys, I'm lending my FAL tool)

Before I took it apart, there was no issue with slop.

I'm in berkeley near the horse track and the semipermanent homeless encampment near the recycling center. I'll dig up the tool and bring it over if you are available this week. PM me with a time and place, we can meet anytime except tuesday afternoon when I have to go to the campus.

There are screwdriver bits that go on a square drive ratchet...

Ordering the assembly tool is worthwhile - costs under $20.00 I think. I have one, it's worth it I guess, makes stuffing the spring back in easier.

Either get the assembly tool (here's one: http://estore.websitepros.com/832529/Detail.bok?no=159) or get an appropriately sized screwdriver. Or make one yourself. Using a coin is NOT the best you can do.

You spent a few coins on that kit, why not buy the cheap tool to put it together.....
