    It is very easy. Just remove the evil features prior to removing the fixed magazine. On a stock WASR, you should only have to install a grip wrap or some sort of fin grip.

          I like compmag products to be California compliant.Easy to install on the ak or ar platforms and easy to come off if you visit a free state .keep all the other features you want on the gun . It works like your reverse loading a a fix mag such as a SKS /Haikim/bolt action rifle etc.

            It cost me $3 to make my WASR featureless. Home made grip wrap and it removes as easy as anything if I visit a free state. Featureless beats fixed mag all day if you have freedom week mags

            And since the mag ban will probably fall before the AW ban, featureless is the way to go IMO especially on a WASR which needs nothing but a wrap. With featureless you can run large cap mags, but with fixed mag you cannot use more than 10rd unless and until the AW ban falls.
