    Marlin 1893 question

    Is the same carrier used for both .30-30 and .38-55 on the 1893 Marlin?

    This will take some expertise by someone very familiar with the actions for both calibers.
    American soldier by choice. Made in America by the Grace of God.

    So, now it is ironic that the State whittles away at the right of its citizens to defend themselves from the possible oppression of their State.

    Well, to answer my own question and anyone else's that may be interested, the two carriers are distinctly different. The 30/30 carrier has a "U" shaped nose on the leading/magazine edge where as the 38/55 is flat from side to side.

      It looks like you need to fill in the "U" to convert a 30-30 carrier into a 38-55 so the flat is up higher:
