I had Wilson Combat completely rework my Colt Gold Cup 1911 frame and slide. That was 25 years ago, and I have never had a problem with the handgun. It was expensive but worth it.

Everybody that comes to mind is either retired, dead, or not taking work. There really is a vacuum of good 1911 smith these days.

I am close to being able to do full 1911 work but I don't like doing slide cuts and I never learned to hand checker.
I should probably skip hand checkering all together and build tooling for machine checkering.

        I do 1911 barrel/bushing/frame/slide/safeties & fire control parts fitting.
I don't polish/blue or paint and thats most of what people are looking for.

I do not believe that Brett is taking new work at this time.

I had a 1911 checkered at Dave's metal works (now retired) many years ago. Even he farmed that work out to another guy... it's an art, the checkering guy only did checkering.
