    AR 15

    hey guys hows it going? im getting started in personal gunsmithing. and for my first project i would like to make an AR 15. im in cali(duh) so it needs to be cali legal. so i have a couple questions. how much, all together, would it cost for me to make a cali legal AR 15? would you recommend any books or training that would help? where can i get the parts? and what do i have to do to make it legal?

    By "make" do you mean start with raw forgings, a barrel blank, and machine the whole thing; buying a lower, barreled upper, and some other parts and putting them together; or somewhere in between?

      In my sig, go to the 1st post in that thread.

      It has guides, how-tos, videos, step-by-steps, etc. for the lower (simple).

      For the upper, there's a .pdf from Brownells that's quite good.

      I wouldn't call putting together an AR really gunsmithing - it's too simple for that.

        Somewhere between $900 and $20,000 depending on what you need to buy to finish it.

          i need to buy the parts. and im not going to do any forging lol im to lazy for that what brand should i go with? im willing to spend around $1300 - $1500. thanks for the links and pricing.
