    Dan Wesson front sight cut

    I'm losing my mind.

I have a 2016 Dan Wesson PM7-45. Around 2016 Dan Wesson changed the front sight cut from "Springfield" to "Novak." I wanted to order a fiber optics front sight from Dawson Precision, and had to call in for that. I had to take countless measurements, sent them photos, until they decided I have "Novak" sights.

Today the fiber optic front sight from Dawson Precision arrived, and it looks nowhere near the stock iron sight my gun has from the factory. The foot print is totally different. My sight is 1/2" long and 1/2" wide. The fiber optic sight I received from Dawson Precision is only .39" wide.

Where do I go from here?

    I live in Ventura County.

Dawson does not make them like Springfield.
The width of the dovetail does not matter.
What matters is the fit of the dovetail in the slide.
They come oversized so don't just force it in.
      You have to fit them.
I lap the bottom of the sight until you can slide it half way into the slide with your fingers like Dawson recommends.
Then you push it the rest of the way with the pusher that Dawson includes.

If you want it to look like a factory installed sight, you have to get a wider dovetail sight and then after the sight is installed and centered, you file down the sight to match the slide and you refinish the slide.
