Any OC/LA or calsmith here for barrel work ?

I have heavy taper style barrel that I like to recontour / recrown . It's a howa mini .

Randall can remove it , but I was able to find a match gun smith shop near by and got some info and my turn around time is 6month for contouring .

I was wondering if you guys can recommend some shop near by without shipping the barrel .

I suspect you'll end up fairly close to the cost of a new barrel. But I may be wrong.

More then a new barrel if it's not a match barrel.

Custom contouring isn't cheep.

I must have contact 15 shops including local and out of state .
Most won't even bother , 2 shops were down to take the job at around 300 not including shipping charges .

I really didn't want to scrap the project or start over . I found a shop that specializes in savage . But they were willing to work on my howa . They have quoted me $100 for the job . Plus 55 bucks on shipping/return . Smith even threw in engraving . It's not quite #6 contour but close enough . Definitely lighter 24in vs 19 . But there's possibility of ****ty accuracy after all this work . all this could be total waste of mony .

Hoping to find out how it shoot soon . If the barrel is a keeper , already got quoted to cerakote black for 120 for the barrel .
