    sandblasting question...

I've been using a cheap sandblast gun that gets clogged up pretty quickly even though I drain the air tank and have an in line filter. Any experience in this area? Im wondering if a better gun is the solution. As an aside, I was going crazy trying to troubleshoot a compressor problem that I finally solved. I was getting a tank full of pressure but almost nothing at my blast cabinet. After thinking I had lost what's left of my mind and accidentally throwing away a good regulator I found out a female quick disconnect had failed. I had never heard of that and couldn't see how it could happen. In desperation I had replaced the female quick disconnect at my compressor and it solved the problem. Go figure.

If you are getting water in the line, the only real solution is to get a refrigerated air dryer. Not really a cheap solution, but probably the best one. The other possibility would be to run a pressure regulator off your main tank, so that your blaster was always running at less pressure than your main tank. You will lose some power, but as the air expands to a lower pressure, the relative humidity drops, thus drying the air a bit.
