    Storing Handgun Barrels

How are you storing your spare handgun barrels? Do you use containers? Plastic tubes? I usually keep them in the original packaging.

    How many you got?

I just toss em in a drawer. Along with all the other unused crap I've collected.

Then again, I'm not exactly the most organized person in the world. I'd give Marie Kondo an aneurysm.

I oil, wrap and seal in plastic bag. My uncle used to oil and then dip it in hot wax to preserve it from any rust.

Lol. Yes, very familiar with Japanese culture.

Albert Einstein's desk always looked a mess. Some studies show disorganized looking desks have the most organized owners.

Only have a few. I had an idea, plastic toothbrush case???

I picked up some milspec cosmoline, cleaned up the barrels, coated inside and out with warmed up cosmoline, placed in a Ziploc bag, rolled the excess bag material around the barrel to protect from bumps, taped it and stuffed them in a Tupperware container.

That being said, don't do the same, that cosmoline is a mess to clean up, my wife was not happy and neither would yours.

I'm cheap, so I wont let the rest of the cosmoline go to waste. If I didn't have all the rest of the container, I'd probably use grease or heavy oil, less of a mess to clean up.

I should have labeled all the barrels, but it's too late now. Don't make the same omission, since I'm going to have to tear open the packaging to identify what barrel I need. Stupid me, since the cosmoline will be a mess

I have a Contender and all my barrels reside in Borestores silicone treated socks. I wipe them down with a lightly oiled cloth then in the sock they go.

Seal-A-Meal. Seriously. Lube them up a bit, nothing heavy. Into the bag they go. Seal-A-Meal them. Never worry about them again and ready to go when you need them. You can put several into one bag.

Vacu-Bags work just as well but often those bags are a bit large but they do work for things like barreled actions, lowers, handguns.

You'll never worry about moisture/humidity/rust. No need to cosmoline or heavy grease/lubes.

It's fast and easy and no mess. If you have a Seal-A-Meal its also cheap, just the price of the bag. Same for Vacu-bags, get them on sale and they are reusable. With the Vacu-bags you'll never go back to heavy lube, pricey store-bought silicone gun socks or stuff like that again.

Don't worry, it will never pass...How in the hell did that pass?
