Remove staked front sight from G19

Also, if it matters, the front sight looks to me to be made of metal not plastic.

Just to verify - you did remove the screw?
If you have removed the screw and it still will not budge, it may have been attached with red loctite. If the front sight is metal, heat it with a soldering iron from the bottom where the screw goes, until you see a whiff of smoke or smell something burning.
But I would think a proper sized punch and a judicious blow would knock that sight out no problem, as long as the slide was properly supported. And there would be no damage to the slide.Last edited by SkyHawk; 01-08-2022, 12:32 PM.Comment

I'm not familiar Gen 3 Glocks having a screw in the OEM front sight.
Just the plastic clip
Aftermarket can have the screw or be peened over or anything else under the wecsog sun.
Op post a couple pics

Yes you are right, I believe that earlier gen 3 did not have a screw. But they have had a screw for a good while now, maybe the last 10 to 12 years.
OP if you have an older Gen 3 that does not use a screw, then use a small punch that fits in the hollow area under the sight with some room to spare, and knock it out.Last edited by SkyHawk; 01-08-2022, 1:44 PM.Comment

Break the plastic front sight off and then knock the remaining plastic DOWN through the slot from outside of the slide.Randall Rausch

I thought about that but unless I'm totally off the mark the front sight isn't plastic; it's metal. I ran a small file over it lightly and it skated instead of biting. So I'm reluctant to break the sight off out of concern for damaging the slide.Comment
