I had this issue with a PSA upper. The slot in the upper receiver that the barrel extension pin fits into was too wide, it allowed the barrel to be over rotated when they assembled it. This caused the BCG to hit, and glance off the barrel extension into position.

Personally, I wouldn’t shoot it. I’d think think you’d eventually break the bolt

What kind of tools did you use to torque the barrel down?

If you are saying the barrel fits loosely in the upper you can shim it with shim stock to keep it centered .

As far as what tools you used I would assume he means to hold the upper while torquing as what you actually tighten the nut with is irrelevant . If the barrel fits the upper tight the obvious question would be did you lap the upper

Upper receivers are the cheapest of the parts in play . 30 lb is ok to go I normally go 40 - 50 but 30 ain't going to come loose and more is not going to change anything
