ak bolt doesn't fully lock when round is chambered

I just picked up my first rifle today, a wasr 10/63.

I noticed that when I chamber a round, the bolt doesnt close all the way. It closes completely when it's not loaded.

Being a new wasr, it does have that bolt hold open where the hammer is issue, so I cant exactly pull it all the way back and let it slam forward; however, I am giving the bolt a quick push forward when it does get stuck, so I'm pretty sure this isnt a result of me babying it. I've tried two different types of ammo (wolf hp and I think it may be Yugo? I'm not sure it's a brass case) and they both do the same thing. The barrel looks clean

I stripped the wasr, put a round in the barrel and did the same with my pistols, comparing them. They look pretty much identical. I've tried pushing the bolt forward myself, but it just doesnt want to go up any further. I didn't want to force it too much for fear of an AD.

Is this normal? Should I bring it to the range and try to fire it like this or would it be dangerous?

I did a google search and found something about headspace but I'm still not completely clear on what it actually is. From what I can tell, I might have too short a headspace? Does anyone know much about this? If you think it might be a headspace issue, how would I go about resolving the issue?

and as a note this was a henderson certified wasr..but I've really no clue what they do when they certify it lol.

    thanks in advance

check extractor for function. some new rifles have cosmo/gunk in spring etc. making it stick. does it go over rim? if stuck, disassemble bolt and thoroughly clean. there have been slamfire issues with gooped-up firing pins also. possibly the only way an ak can fire out of battery. easy to check anyway.

Since this is a WASR 10, its built from a numbers matching Romy-G parts kit. You simplest/quickest fix is the one mentioned above. Remove the bolt and press the extractor with your thumb if it doesn't move dissassmble and clean well. If that doesnt fix the problem you should probably call Henderson defense and have him take a look at the headspacing. Don't shoot this rifle until the problem has been fixed.

I ended up cleaning the bolt and bolt carrier more thoroughly and added some oil. It's starting to work better. It will chamber properly most of the time. Every once in a while it still gets stuck where it used to, but if I give it a nudge forward it will fully close

        thanks guys!

Are you pulling the charging handle all the way back and releasing (i.e. not gently letting it ride forward)
