    Remington 700 Stock Sizes ?

Looking for a replacement synthetic stock for my 700 in 30-06.
I see some listed as long action, and also long action magnum.
    Difference?

I thought the difference between LA and LA Magnum was all internal to the action (bolt face and feed rails.) Pretty sure the exterior dimensions and action screw spacing stays the same.

30-06 is a long action cartridge in remington 700 receivers.
There are standard long action barrel contours and magnum contours.
Magnum cartridges have a slightly fatter barrel contour than standard cartridges.
The actions are the same length.

Since you have a 30-06, that's going to be a standard long action, not a magnum.

So you need a standard long action stock if you have a skinny barrel 30-06 rem 700.
Unless you have a heavy barrel, then you need a long action sendero stock.

        Thank you,
I plan on changing the barrel out to a heavy sporter profile, 22", .700 at the muzzle

Then you will want a stock with a sendero or varmint inletting to clear that larger barrel.
Either that or plan on opening up the barrel channel if you get a stock intended for a skinny barrel .

Get the correct channel to begin with (correct in the sense that it will fit whatever profile you may go to in the future.) Much easier than opening it up later.
