WASR-10 From DD's Ranch

I'm just wondering if there's any one out there who has gotten a WASR-10 from DD's Ranch. I need some advise on how to clean it and get it ready.

I have not bought from DD's Ranch but own several AKs. Do a field strip on the rifle, clean the bore with a good cleaner (GunScrubber works well). Spray down the bolt carrier, recoil spring assembly, gas piston and gas tube with cleaner. Disassemble the bolt completely and spray solvent over it and through the firing pin channel. Reassemble the bolt and lightly lube the exterior but do not put lubricant into the firing pin channel (keep the firing pin and channel dry). Lightly lube the bolt carrier and receiver. Lube the recoil spring assembly. Put everything back together and go shoot it.

I had one a while ago from DD's Ranch. This is good information. The only thing specific about these is sometimes they have left over metal shavings in the receiver from the magazine boring. Just be sure to clean it thoroughly to rid of any leftover debris.

Actually, you could do nothing and it would shoot just fine but you want to get any metal shavings out. I used to clean my AKs after every range session. No more. Now I just run a boresnake through the barrel and put it back in the safe. I do a field strip and clean/lube every 1000 rounds or so now and that is probably too often.

Thanks both of you for your advise. I will clean it real good. I'm an expert when it comes to cleaning AR's , but I have never owned an AK before.

I own ARs as well. The AK will take 1/10th the time to maintain.
