Does Sacramento not have machine shops?

Heat gun on the outside part (propane torch if you used loctite), upside-down compressed air can on the inside part. Lots of muscle.

Easier to take it in somewhere and pay them to do it.

I don’t have an answer as I’m not in your area.

Can you give us a backstory?

Have you used this on a rifle?
        How many rounds fired?
Why did you take it off the barrel?
Why do you need / want to separate the two parts?

You installed the thread conversion piece. Was that dry or with a locktite type product?
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
        (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

No machine shop will touch it because it's a firearm product. I have to disclose it beforehand because it so clearly looks like a firearm product beforehand. They say their insurance prevents them from working on anything firearm-related.

I haven't fired with this comp or extension yet... I bought the extension so that my comp would clear my rail without having to replace the barrel which I've shot with and come to like.

When I went to remove the comp after installing it, the barrel extension simply came off with the comp. Now they're stuck.

I took it off the barrel because the barrel extension makes the comp clear the rail a bit too much and I want to experiment with something that extends it just a bit less

Send it to me and I will get them apart for you.
The machine shop not touching it because it is a gun part sounds like bullsh*t. By that logic, they cant be around screws, pins, shims, clips, raw material, etc. As long as it ain't a serial numbered receiver, it ain't a firearm.

Did you use Rocksett?? If you did, shame on you! But it can still be broken down.

Thank you, I'll consider it. I just got a quote from a nearby gunsmith, $25 and overnight service, so I may opt for that one first.

Was kind of hoping to do it one trip, one afternoon, but I'll settle for overnight

25 bucks isn't a quote, its mad money for doing a quickie.

Tell them it's for an air compressor. Or a spray diverter for a pressure washer.

Looks like you can clamp the extension in a vise, insert a stout metal rod through the brake and turn. The heat requirement would still be advised if you used a locking compound (or a long hot water bath if using Rocksett, I think.)

Knipex and heat. Kroil. Repeat. For that $25 you should be able to get the tools to fix this yourself.
