    Failure to eject

I have a new to me Ortgies pistol that has a ejection problem.
I'm pretty sure that most calgunners don't have any experience with these, but the same principals should apply to all semi auto pistols.
The gun is in like new condition despite being about 100 yrs old.
If I hand cycle the action, or load 1 round in the mag, it functions well. The empties are ejected forcefully at about 3 o'clock.
But if I load 2 or more rounds (in 2 different mags), the first empty is extracted but not ejected. It seems to stay right above the next round and won't let it feed. I'm shooting Geco ammo which shoots well in a few other .32acp pistols I have. Gun has been cleaned and oiled more than once.
So, any general ideas on what to look at??

    You try another mag?

It seems like the drag from the top round in the mag could be slowing down your slide.

You might look for a reduced power recoil spring. Also make sure the recoil spring is installed in the correct direction, with larger end towards the muzzle.

Also make sure the mags are clean inside, the follower is clean, the mag springs are oriented correctly etc.

The striker is the ejector on those guns. I am not sure if a new striker spring would help, as I am not sure what keeps the striker rigid during the ejection process. You can get a spring kit here

Sounds like the slide is not coming back far enough for the fired case to hit the ejector.
Assuming everything else is OK, the recoil spring might be the wrong one, it's too strong.
        Original correct spring here:

What happens if you load a single round, no mag? Does the fired case eject?

If it does, the problem is likely what Skyhawk suggested. If not, it's possibly a mismatch between recoil impulse (powder charge) and recoil spring, or something in the action cycle causing undue drag and slowing the slide.

The only difference is when the mags have more than 1 round in them.
So, I think that the slide must be dragging on the top round.
Anyway, the easiest first step will be to change the recoil and striker springs.
The mag springs seem plenty strong, so I'll leave them for now.
            Thanks for the replies.
