Nighthawk drop in 1911 trigger job

I'm going to try it out on a Kimber Ultra Carry ... something that already feels like part of me.

Sure it'll work with your Kimber? Is the Nighthawk a series 70 thing?

Nighthawk are all series 70. Might need to email them to see if it will work with your kimber

Not sure if their firing pin safety style system would work. Or if you have an earlier series 70 kimber

The Kimber I will be using carries the II designation so it is a Series 80 which also works with the drop in unit. I'm only human though so I frequently make mistakes and, if I have, that just means I need to acquire another 1911 (if I don't have another one that will work).

Not sure if you are aware or if it would bother you. But the profile of the hammer of the drop in kit is narrower compared to most standard hammers. It was made to fit into their housing and be a universal fit for most 1911’s. For the price I could see the appeal if you have no access to a smith that can fit parts for you. But there are more cost effective options. Just food for thought. It’s still a premium piece. Just wanted to make sure your aware of the hammer being narrower than a standard hammer.

Snacks ... I appreciate your wisdom. People like you make Calguns what it is. The fact is it looks like I dodged a massive tax bill, so to be honest I'm celebrating a bit. The chance to work with my hands a bit is priceless to me.

Fitted parts almost always trump "drop-in" parts.
Drop-in parts have to be made sloppy loose so they will "drop-in" to all different dimensioned frames.
In that respect, "drop-in" parts are often just like "factory" parts they are replacing.

I promise a report, however, it turns out ... whether I made a mistake or have a feel good moment. Either way though, I'm happy that I'm getting some time to play with my stuff. I may be on the verge of semi-retirement.

I thought that Kimber used a firing pin block based on action of the grip safety, not the trigger? So I don't think the trigger/sear etc has anything to do with the firing pin block on a Kimber II. It is not a Series 80 style, it is more like a Swartz style. I don't see how the Nighthawk drop in system would have any bearing on that.

I put one in my Range Officer 9mm and all I can say is WOW! what a trigger.
Also install a NH flat trigger on it. Better Trigger, means more Bullseyes for me.
                      You will love it!
