Mosin Bolt Handle Turned Down

Hello! I was wondering what the process of doing something like this looks like or if there is a gunsmith who offers these services?? Thanks!

There is a few ways to go about it.
The old school blacksmith way is to heat up the handle until it's red hot and hammer it down where you want it.
This is typically done in a set of bolt forging blocks to protect the rest of the bolt body from getting too hot.

Then there is the cut and weld.
This is cutting the handle off and welding it back on at the angle you desire.
An alternative handle can also be used instead of the original that was cut off.

Then there is the cut and screw.
There are bolt on replacement handles that attach with a screw after the original is removed.

I recommend and do the cut and weld method because I would not trust a screw attached handle to reliably stay on the bolt body and I'm not a blacksmith who likes to hammer on red hot iron as a means of re-shaping it.

Either one requires welding which is usually the cleaner way to do it.

Were it mine, i'd have Mr. Rausch handle the job.....i've only heard wonderful things regarding the quality of his work.

I have seen advertised commercially available bent bolts from place such as https://www.akstuff.com/index.php?ro...product_id=215
but it would probably cost a lot more and the bolt wouldn't be serialized to your rifle.
