Does anyone out there know where I can find replacement parts for my PARA USA Recon 1911 double stack 45? I’m specifically looking for a factory replacement of the ambidextrous safety.

Grips, trigger, magazine, possibly barrel (ramped or not) are unique to the double stack frame but all others are standard 1911 parts.
Para got bought up by Cerebus / Remington but now Remington has gone bankrupt.
Finding original exact match parts for that specific version might be tough, but you should be able to keep it running for a long time.

Sarco Inc and Numrich both have lots of surplus Para Ordnance parts. Whether or not they have what you need is another story.

Looks like he edited his original post:
Now, regarding the safety...... I have a circa-late 90's Springfield clone of the Para P-14 1911 double stack, and a few "regulation" 1911's. The width of the frame where the safety is installed is exactly the same, which would lead me to believe that a standard 1911 ambi safely would work. Assuming you Para Recon is built on a standard 1911 frame.

According to this web page, the ambi safety on your gun is a weak spot as it is injection molded steel:
The Para Black Ops has good bones. If you find one, it is a solid working 1911 and a good choice for old school single action carry.
And according to this guy, the safety is standard spec:.....While he was working on it, he snapped the ambidextrous safety. It snapped when he engaged it. The safety that came on the gun was injection-molded steel. Like I said—dubious. I replaced it with a milled Nighthawk safety. After a bit more work, it works as it should.
Hey guys, so like many of us I was browsing 1911's and I was checking out some of the para's and locally there is a guy selling a double stack black ops 14-45 and I am here wondering where is all the reviews on them! I love the idea of a double stack 1911 and I know para were the first to come...
Trigger is a no, same with the mag catch, but the rest of the parts are all within standard GI specs.
The extractor, if it’s a PXT model, is a two piece design but you should still be able to replace it with solid forged/billet parts.
The MSH is plastic, but I’m not certain that standard MSHs will fit as the wider grips might include wider MSH.
The grip safety, thumb safety and the slide stop pin are all standard.
Lots of MIM parts. My Para PXT 7-45 Night-Tac single stack has the same build quality but mine is among the last made in Canada before Para went to GA through Ft. Lauderdale FL.Last edited by bigbossman; 01-01-2025, 1:36 PM.Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

I fit 1911 safeties and fire control parts as well as barrels, bushings and slides to frames including cutting frames for ramped barrels. And according to this guy, the safety is standard spec:
