I've got an older bolt action Winchester Model 69 .22 rifle that I'm having trouble with. Any help is greatly appreciated.
First issue: About 1 in 10 rounds fail to fire. I'm using cheap WalMart Federal .22LR's - is that the issue, or is it the firing pin, or...?
Second issue: The bolt tends to get a bit sticky after firing 30-50 rounds through it. I clean the gun after every use, but don't know how to properly care for the bolt. Is this a cheap ammo issue, bad maintenance practices, or...?
Lastly: The safety sometimes improperly engages while cycling the bolt. This most often occurs after 50-80 rounds when the gun starts to get a bit gummed up, but can happen just about anytime. Perhaps the answer to the two questions above will answer this.
I'm hoping it's not gunsmith time, and enjoyed putting 150 or so rounds through it earlier today. Fun gun, but probably in need of some better educated TLC.
