    Remington Field master 572 issues

Very old gun that primarily fired shorts. It's chambered in .22LR but there must have been a lot of copper fouling in chamber as it refused to even chamber LR.

Scrubbed out chamber good and it now will fire LR, but only maybe one out of every four. I can feel when the next round doesn't fully seat. All I get is a click, no bang.

Ideas? Take it apart again and continue scrubbing the chamber with copper solvent?

Can't think of much else to try.

Heavy carbon build up in chamber. 22 lr finishing reamer will clean it up.
Otherwise continue to clean out chamber with cleaner that will remove the carbon.

Is the area where the firing pin hits the chamber edge all peened in? It may need that dent ironed out.

Thanks for the replies. I'll take it apart again and check for peening, but given that it chambers and fires shorts perfectly, I think it just fouling.

Gonna have to buy a reamer. In the meantime, I'll try scrubbing it again.
