    1911 Question

Just bought a Colt 1991A1 Commander made in 1994. Got it home and disassembled it to clean and oil it so I could put it away in the safe. After taking it all apart I noticed the pin that connects to the barrel link just fell out. Is that pin supposed to be that loose?

Its captured between the rails when assembled, so it doesnt matter. I think all of mine are loose (3 1911 builders, 1 kimber) . They dont fall out, but thats probably due to oil or gunk, but I can push them out.

2 of my 1911's had loose pins; it bothered me a little that they fall out easily so I ended up getting some oversized pins.

If it doesn't bother you, then it doesn't matter like xfer42 posted.

Not unusual at all. Like xfer42 said the pin is captured when the pistol is assembled. 1911's are not noted for tight tolerances because they were designed for reliability and interchangeability of parts.

I had a loose one on a Detonics, I just staked the pin.

Just stake it. That's what the solution is.
