I may finally have something to contribute here

Sorry for the necro-bump, but I'd like to see the info contained in one thread.

For Bulgarian or Russian sidefolders, I simplified a technique nicoroshi showed me.

Take a .45 brass case. Deprime the case, drill a hole in the primer well for the screw, cut the case down to 0.39" overall length.

Get a 6-32NC screw, at least 3/8" in length, thread the small hole in the folder release button with 6-32NC tap (the hole should already be the correct size for the tap):

Now the folder button cannot be depressed.

7.62X39 case should work as well

Hi everyone! This is an excellent thread -- thank you!
Is pinning alone good enough, or should we also weld the stock to avoid any uncertainty?

AFAIK, there's nothing in law that says they must be permanently fixed, so sounds overkill. At least for the underfolder, it has to be completely disassembled to remove the spacer so that's as good as it really needs to be IMHO.

So long as a tool is required, GTG. I hope, anyway.

                  Thanks, morthrane!

That sounds reasonable. I was also hoping welding won't be required. What I have is a side-folder SGL31. I'll try ti implement the copper-tube approach.

                  Thanks!

                    Hi everyone!

                    Thank you for great suggestions!

Following guidance here, I locked metal folding stock on my SGL31-84 using:
                    - 3/8 copper straight connector
                    - 1/4-5/8 steel screw clamp

All was bought at Lowes. Interestingly, the length of the connector was already perfect "as is". I had to use a hacksaw to cut out a tiny section of the copper connection, as you see in the figure.
The spot was pretty tight to get to, and it took me some time to wrap the clamp around the pin.
Also, I used only one half of the copper connection -- it seems to be working fine even with just one side.

Magpul Zhukov stock. Just drill through the stock and push button located where the rear attachment point is. In this case, an AK stock screw was used.

Is it possible to drive the hinge pin out? If so then maybe there is a better method that doesn't require permanently altering the parts making them worth quite a bit less if one wants to sell later on.

I wish to purchase an AMD-65 and will send the bullet button/screw/bushing-washers.

Only problem since I do not own one yet I do not know the bushing size.

Anyone know the following bushing/washer pack info to pin the AMD-65 shouldered screw push button.

                              ID= ?
OD= ? maximum (else it bumps into the pistol grip)
Height=? and is there any undersize or oversize tolerances?

                              THANKS!

PM 69mach1 he will know the answer, probably has it memorized.
Dude has forgotten more about AKMs than most will ever know.

I believe that it is 1/4" ID but I am not sure on that. What he and I did on mine back in the day was to get a plastic/nylon bushing from lowes/Home Depot and cut it to the right length.
Another option would be to not drill the receiver out large enough for the last step in the screw to drop into the receiver which will prevent the stock for folding and you could always drill it out if you leave this communist state.

Here is a link to the parts,http://www.apexgunparts.com/ak-all-m...ock-parts.html
Worst case you could order one and get a bushing that fits it then send it with the other stuff.
