    Old Army BARREL REPLACEMENT?

Does anyone have experience or knowledge on this? I'd like to put a new shorter barrel on my Old Army. I've heard Blackhawk .44 barrels are compatible. True?

    thanks!

Why not just shorten the barrel you have now?

Barrel, sight and trigger work on most pistols and shotguns.

I'm down for that too, I haven't found anyone in the East Bay willing to do so.

Easy to chop it. Making it shorter is only part of the job. The sight and the loading lever have to be dealt with as well, unless you only want to chop an inch or so.

Yes, chop, sight mount, and no loading lever - will be using Belt Mountain quick change pin assembly.

Easier/cheaper to hunt down a factory Ruger Old Army with a 5 1/2" barrel and sell yours. A Ruger 45 Colt barrel might work but will need machine work to fit in longer OA frame. Closer to ball size than a 44 Mag which is only .429.

This guy has changed some OA to 50 cal. Might be a source for you. http://www.clementscustomguns.com/rugerrevolvers.html
