    Poly80 lower help requested

Hey everyone, I picked up one of the Polymer80 lowers, the RL556v3. After realizing my mistake of not having knowledge to work a drill press, and definitely not wanting to ruin a purchase lol, I'm looking for suggestions. Is there anyway to find a shop that could do this job? Or if anyone is willing to help me learn in a public shop, or something along those lines? I'm in the Pasadena area, and I'd compensate of course, seems like a really cool project and I'd love to learn some machining. Thank you all!

Perhaps you should get a serial number on that before you go and make it into a 100% receiver.

Don't go walking into a tool Co-op, a machinist shop or gunsmith and ask them to break the law with you.

Do you even understand all the rules and regulations and the laws that you are potentially asking the community to assist you in breaking?

Do you have your FMBUS number already?
Do you have your 3.7oz piece of stainless steel embedded already?
Do you have your single-shot upper setup?
Do you realize that you can not legally assemble that frame as a semi-auto in CA after you finish it?

I've turned a lot Polymer80 kits and other 80% lowers into a number of fun things; Christmas ornaments, candle holders, book-ends, you name it...
              Happy to help...

Jeese, it looked interesting so I purchased it. I'm sorry I'm a new dumb guy. I appreciate the responses and the heads up on my new bookend. Everyone starts somewhere, I'm sorry I'm not as informed as the rest. Either way, thank you all very much for the info, and I hope you're all safe with the rioting/protesting going on. Obviously I need to hit the books more on California law

                  Thank you for the response

No, I actually have no parts, or anything really. I was going through some of my stuff that's been packed away and forgot I even purchased it. Things still in the box. I was just curious for suggestions, and obviously I asked a pretty stupid question, though I learned, so thank you

Without the required 3.7oz of 17-4 stainless, it's not actually POSSIBLE to legally complete your plastic reciever into a firearm.
Even if you COULD find a place to put that metal (there isn't one), it will cost you more to do the USNA process if you have to pay for the engraving than it would cost to go to a gun store and purchase a finished lower reciever.

Finishing out 80% receivers just does not make sense anymore.
Cut away one end of that lower and use it as a door stopping wedge.
See how many of your friends even notice it over the years to come.

If you want to build a CA compliant rifle, you could start with a stripped lower. Lots of helpful info online and on Calguns.

Just go to your local FFL and buy a lower. Build it either featureless or with a locked mag, so it stays legal. Or even go with an M&P 15! Ditch the 80%. Its not worth the legal trouble.

No upside on doing anything with any polymer 80% in Ca. Complete waste of time.
