Glock 27 9 Round Magazine Problem Fix

I got a near new Glock 27 a few months ago.
I thought I would give the brand a fair try.

Right off the bat I had a problem loading the 9th round into the two 9 round magazines I had.
After I got the 9th round into the mag, it was nearly impossible to seat the mag in the mag well unless I slammed it in hard.
With the mag locked in, it was impossible to pull the slide back to chamber a round.
(There are you tube vids with others who have this problem with the 27.)

Yes, I know, the new springs are stiff, leave the mags loaded a while and they will get better.
So I loaded the mags and put the gun away for over two months.
Checking the magazines showed no change.

I went to the various Glock forums and there was a suggestion to shorten the rear follower legs 1/8" so I did that to one mag.
    It made no difference.

I took one of the mags apart, held it upside down, filled it with 9 rounds and then the follower, then tried to push the spring into the space remaining in the bottom of the mag.
I was actually able to do this except the spring was fully coil bound with one coil left over outside the mag.

So, I cut one coil off the bottom of the spring and reshaped the new cut end to match the cut off piece shape.
I reassembled the magazine and life was good.
The mag spring remained plenty stiff but now the 9th round could be loaded. The mag fit into the gun and locked into place with normal pressure and the slide could be racked to chamber a round.

More research showed that Glock uses the same spring in a bunch of different mags, they may have gotten away with using this spring on the G26 but a one coil shorter spring is needed on the G27.
