    WASR-22.

What are the magazine well dimensions in WASR-22. Can you insert an ak-47 or ak-74 mags? Building an AK-74/22 sidefolder clone and wondering what flat to buy and what magazines to use. Thanks.

        not inserting

I am not inserting anything anywhere. Just wondering about mag dimensions. I think I'll fabricate my own mag out of 74. Anybody knows if there are any curved, or even straight .22LR steel magz available anywhere? Thanks.

            I'm making a 10/30 .22lr mag from a Tapco mag body.

For 10/30'S i'VE HAD MY BEST LUCK WITH East German "Ribbed" steel mags (Just grind the top fed lips off making the topside flat and put your Cugir mags insert in ,withe a little meat removed from bottom edge of Cugir mags insert so it fits curve of the 30 round body)

Poly-Tech and Norinco made .223/5.56 AK magazines.
It was for their AK/MAK in .223/5.56x45mm.

Just buy the short WASR 22 mags. The inserts are inside of a .223 plastic mag that's been cut to fit the WASR 22. Someone has coverted a Bulgarian AK74 polymer mag to take the WASR 22 insert. My .223 Romanian SAR3 will accept the Bulg. 74 mags, so the WASR 22 will take them also, with mods of course. By the way, where did you find a WASR 22 parts kit? You will need very specific WASR 22 parts for your build.

NO WASR parts kit being used. Turned 10/22 barrel to ak-74 dimensions and installed FSB, GB, Handguard retainer, RSB and trunnion. Will be modifying 10/22 bolt, fabricating guide rail/ejector system and recoil system. So far I just finished building the front end and will be parkerizing it at the Nor. Cal. build party next Sunday. Also have a side folder 74 stock for it, but missing a front latch that holds it in closed position. Any body got one of those laying around?
