    Docter Red dot Sight. Help

I purchaced a Docter sight II plus off ebay from docterusa. I had some trouble with the new Picatinny/Weaver mount I bought with the sight. When I got the mount the threads where stripped from someone trying to force the allen bolt through when it would not fit. I returned it and sent them my weaver rail to make sure my rail would work with the mount. They told me I am going to have to clearance my rail so it will fit. I didn't want to have to do that so they sent me a picatinny rail which was nice of them. But the rail had a different radius and bolt pattern than my weaver rail for my Ruger MkIII. So I just ended up filing the notch deeper on my rail. Then I find out the thread pitch for the allen screws that came with the sight aren't the same thread as the taped hole in the mount. So I had to get some allen screws that where the correct pitch. Well now I have the sight mounted on my pistol I just need to adjust the windage and elevation.

Does anyone know of a gunsmith that is familiar with these sights. I would like to take it in to someone to have it sighted in and inspected.

Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I live in Orange County. If anyone can recommend a gunsmith that could help me calibrate my sight I would much appreciate it.

Thanks again Adam, just got my gun back from Bolsa Gunsmithing. It cost me 50 bucks and took about a week and a half for them to sight it in. Also got to shoot it today and I am quite happy with how it turned out.

I was also worried about the reticle not being as sharp or as circular as I thought it should be. But I ask about this at Bolsa Gunsmithing and I was told that is how red dot are. They are never a perfect dot.
In the Docter sight manual it mentions this. It says, "Apparent out-shaped distortion, "star cluster" or frayed edge of the spot are not indicative of any defect of the instrument but exclusively of some physiological irregularity of the eye (astigmatism)." And then they go on to and insult your eyes by saying maybe you should where corrective lenses or get your eyes checked. I kinda thought that was just a bunch of smart talk or whatever but when I took a picture of the sight to show how the sight looked when e-mailing it to someone I found it was circular like it should be. And further more when shooting my gun to day I found the red dot light spot would change slightly when I changed from my left eye to my right eye when shooting. Also I found when looking at the power LED light on my computer tower it to has flare about it when I try and focus on it. So I have come to the conclusion that what Docter says about the sight adds up.

All in all the sight is good and though you wont see a perfect circle when looking through it; you still will be able to make a very accurate shot. It is also nice to be able to focus on the target rather than the front sight. When shooting small targets from a distance it is hard to keep your sight on the target when your trying to keep your sights aligned at the same time. But when looking through a red dot sight or scope you are able to focus on the target while centering it all at the same time.

I hope something I said is helpful to someone out there.

You can also get a sharper reticle by turning the brightness down.

There is no brightness on the Doctor sight. It is self adjusting.

I've had one on my Mk II for a few years now and is still at zero. Mine is mounted in a Doctor dovetail mount. Not cheap but a very high quality optic.
