    Desert Eagle barrel life

Any users or smiths out there seen a shot out Desert Eagle barrel? I was cleaning mine yesterday and looked down the bore and thought it was looking pretty smooth..maybe it is maybe it isn't. I'll post pics later. But it's a 50ae barrel with maybe 2k rounds through it. I have a 44 barrel too but I want to compare my 50 to another 50.

If anyone has pics or can share what they know I'd apprecate it. Thanks guys!

Don’t have pics at the moment but my 50 barrels new and used seem glass smooth.

I can say from experience older two piece barrels tend to bleed gas off at the seam. Not sure if it’s detrimental but I get more and more failures to eject when I shoot.

I meant smooth as in the rifling isn't prominent. I'll try to get in there with a light and take a picture. Its fine and shoots great. I just wonder if my bore is wearing or if the polygonal surfaces are really minimal.

Throat erosion is a high pressure rifle cartridge problem. It will be minimal to non existent is the cartridges DE uses. The barrel life should be close to unlimited if you keep the ammo clean.

Desert Eagles are poly rifling. No lands and grooves to look sharp. But you should be able to see the twist pretty easily. 2K rounds is barely broken in.

I prolly shot like 50 rounds on my DE 50 barrel. That gun is a safequeen.

I think you’d need to put over 40,000 rounds through the barrel to see some wear. It will still shoot fine but groups will slowly grow in size.
