    AK Receiver Post House Fire

If an AK were in a house fire and inside a safe where the temperatures got somewhere between 621 degrees F and 1220 degrees F, could the receiver be reused if the rifle were stripped completely to a bare receiver? All other parts tossed and a new parts kit purchased.

How much stress is exerted on an AK receiver? I would imagine most of it would be around the front trunnion, so the receiver really just holds everything together. I could be completely wrong in this thinking though.

Is is possible to reheat treat an AK receiver? Are they even heat treated in the first place (I would assume so)?

This is all completely hypothetical of course.

It could be reheat treated. When you build from a flat the only parts of the receiver which are heat treatment are the trigger and hammer pin holes as well as the ejector.

I doubt there are any reasons you could not reuse the front sight base, gas block, rear sight base, rear trunnion and top cover too. The front trunnion, bolt as well as the bolt carrier and recoil spring guide are the parts which I would not reuse.

Yes, if the springs are OK then so is the heat treatment.
