    Pac Nor Barrels

    Looks to be no more.
I wonder if Noveske was still having PacNor drill and rifle blanks for them.
John Noveske started gunsmithing as the in-house gunsmith at PacNor before he left to start Noveske Rifleworks.

A fire consuming the Pac-Nor Barreling Oregon factory was the lead story for the Curry Coastal Pilot. The Pac-Nor Barreling production center in Oregon burned to the ground yesterday morning, October 23rd.

Heartbreaking Lost to fire. Glad no one was hurt....

From one of the articles Randall linked:
"The Pac-Nor facility is insured, but Pac-Nor owner Chris Dichter said he was not sure if the plant would be re-built: “Thirty-five years of my life went up in this fire. I am 66 years-old and I don’t know if I have the time left. It took my lifetime to find all the machinery in this plant.”

Buy a Noveske barrel now if you ever wanted one...I hope they rebuild!

I don't actually KNOW if Noveske is going to be effected by this or not.
I only know that EARLY noveske barrels were absolutely made by PacNor as John was making them after-hours while he was an employee there.
I know that after he left and started noveske rifleworks that he was buying blanks from PacNor and I believe he was chambering them in-house as Noveske got the in-house capability.
I know PacNor had special rifling buttons that were only used for Noveske barrel blanks.
I don't know where the line was as to which company was doing which specific work as that line moves over time as companies switch vendors or bring things wholly in-house etc...

To bad. My 22.250AI that you rechambered for me is a PacNor super match and I know that one of my 243 varmint guns also has a PacNor barrel.

          Good luck to them.

I read an article recently that said pac nor was still making barrels for noveske. They’re my favorite custom barrel maker, but with the owner being 66 I don’t see the doors reopening unless a motivated senior level employee buys the name and is willing to start over from scratch.

I had a custom Remington M700 .30-06 built and blueprinted by Ed Lapour of Washington State that had a Pac-Nor barrel. That was a great shooting rifle....super accurate. Sorry to learn about the fire and destruction of the business.

I was thinking that it was a different name. He was such an *** that he caused me to buy PacNor barrels instead of Lothar-Walther for my varmint guns.

I'm on a first name basis with Shilen. and Lijia has been good to me.

Ask Butch lambert he knows the guy with Lothar. I could swear it was Wally but probably wrong as I suck with names.
