What is the thread size on springfield 1911 grip bushings. I stripped the threads on the frame trying to get the old ones out. I'm going to get a tap to try to clean it up.*

Check this tap from Brownells.They also have the oversized bushings.

The tap is oversized (diameter) to recut the damaged threads. You will need the oversized bushings.
If you have slim bushings, get these.

Try to chase it with the normal tap before you decide to use the oversize tap and bushings. The stock tap should be .236-60, which is the standard for 1911s.
You can get them cheaper on ebay if you don’t need to do many holes.
If that doesn’t work then you need to use the oversize tap, oversize bushing in a size appropriate for your grip thickness, and then one of your bushing holes and bushings will always be an oddball unless you do them all oversized.Last edited by SkyHawk; 10-18-2019, 9:34 PM.Comment
