I took my AR out of storage (been sitting for years), and when I went to re-zero, I discovered that the elevation knob is firmly stuck to the elevation index wheel (A2 sights). Anyone know of an easy way to separate them?
I think the original grease/lube on the sight hardened/gummed up. The 1/16" allen key got bent pretty good in loosening the screw in the witness hole, and it was a pain in the rear to get the elevation assembly to initially turn (thumbs are nice and sore now). Will some WD40 clear that up? Goof-off? Or should I step up to a degreaser of some sort? I don't want to damage the finish or anything like that.
Thanks in advance.
