DIY AR freefloat HG question......... & FSB removal question..

    Guys,

If installing a true free float HG ( YHM), would I have to deal with the issue of head spacing since it involves removing the delta ring and the barrel nut?

Is it possible to remove FSB once the pins are pressed out w/out removing the muzzle break? ( e.g by cutting out the FSB?)

The bolt headspaces off the bolt extension in the barrel. You can remove/reinstall the barrel to any upper receiver with any lock ring, and as long as the bolt goes with the barrel you are safe.

You will have to remove the brake in order to remove the gas block, unless the brake is same or smaller OD than the barrel. It's a pretty close fit from gas port to muzzle.

I can't honestly say it'd be possible to cut the gas block without damaging the barrel. Is your brake welded on?

i've seen folk cut FSB's off using a cutting wheel. only the two rings that encircle the barrel need to be cut. it's not hard to do, just takes some care.
note that you will need a new gasblock after you remove the FSB, and if you are avoiding removing the muzzle brake you will want a clamp-on style block.

Ok so as long as I have the same bolt/barrel, I wont have the headspace problems then? My MB is not welded on but i was just wondering.
