    AR Barrel Sight?

Noob here, how do I remove the front sight safely? Will it come out the rear by removing the barrel or will it slip out the front?

Take the muzzle device off ,knock out the pins that hold the sight base(they go in one direction only) then remove the sight base from the front. Why do you need to remove the sight base? It's better to leave it alone.

You would have to unscrew your flash hider/muzzle break and it would slide off the front.

Why do you want to remove it???

Is that an Eagle/Armalite barrell? If you remove the flash hider, you will have an illegal short barrel rifle (less than 16 inches). But, if I remember correctly, Eagle CAR flash hiders slipped over the 16" barrel.

Yes, it is a preban Eagle Arms 16" OA. I am tinkering with the idea of installing a rail that would extend past the front sight.

If the flash does indeed screw off, just punch out the pins remove FSB, replace with a low profile gas block and install an extended rail. Pretty simple. Just use the right tools and post pictures when you are done

Do I need a special tool to remove the muzzle device? Thinking of spraying some penetrating oil and sliding a screwdriver between the spokes?

Can you take a picture of the whole rifle?

If your barrel, WITH the flash-hider, is 16", then it won't just screw off (it would have been "perm" attached to the barrel).... it will take a LOT of work to get it off.... and you kind of need to take it to a gunsmith since the moment it comes off, you would have a SBR.... a big no no... unless you also own a pistol lower...

By eyeball your muzzle device appears to be permanent (since the holes in the FH are closer to the gas block that where a 16" barrel would end). If that's the case, it's a no-can-do.

                  Your only options are:
1.) shave the FSB into a lo-pro gas block
2.) have a gunsmith remove the permanent muzzle device and choose another (it's destroyed in the process).

choice #1 seems to be the best option.

If that FH isn't pin welded, it should be soon. No need to answer that.

Machine work is necessary to remove those old armalite flash hiders.
