You need to do a lot more research on your own, and then start asking SPECIFIC questions. Please read the Calguns Wiki
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.
--Cesare, Marquis of Beccaria, "On Crimes and Punishment" -
Whoa, slow down tiger.
You haven't been lurking long eh?

Realistically in today's post election market...
$200 lower
$80 lower parts kit
$85 stock assembly
$800-1200 complete upper
$200 fees/shipping/little parts you'll buy
That may not be spot on, but it's fair estimates. You can save yourself a ton watching the sales forums on this site and others and snagging good deals when you can.
Or you can wait a few months for the supply to catch up to the demand and prices to come back down a bit. Hopefully.

check out http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Default.asp?Redirected=Y just as a start. Go down the tabs on the left and look at everything and costs.
You'll notice, everything is pretty much out of stock, but you'll get a good idea what BRD (Black Rifle Disease) is all about.Originally Posted by Wherryj

I don't think you'll be able to get one of these kits outright, everything is pretty much sold out and on very long lead times. Best thing to do is look for a lower complete and upper complete, or get a stripped lower receiver, then get a lower parts kit and stock and a upper, complete that's what I did. I've VERY new as well, a little more than 2 weeks in, been doing a ton of reading and research and it's pretty clear now.
Good starting brands are Stag, CMMG, Rock River Arms, YHM.
Here's what I'm in so far I think:
(I've been searching for good deals where I can, prices include shipping)
Stag Lower Receiver = $145
Surplus Lower Parts/Stock = $145
Stag 4H Upper Complete: $730 (the only ouch)
Bullet Button/Free Lock = $40
Dealer/DROS Fees = $75
Total = $1135
I've bought a bunch of other small odds and ends as well, 5 pack of .223 action proving rounds, 500 rounds of PMC .223Last edited by aermotor; 04-25-2009, 12:40 AM.Comment

ar15 Help
As far as building your first Ar , there is a ton of material out here on building one with all the parts you will need /tools/ and prices, as stated above the parts right now are obtainable but almost at a premium, when the parts or uppers /Lowers are for sale from places like bravo company and others they are out of them within 30 minutes from showing up online and then you see the guys who purchased the parts have them advertised on websites for 200.00 dollars more than they were purchased for so parts are it a premium right now and you can almost just buy one for the build cost unlike last year when you could build one for around 700.00 dollars .One thing you might do is see about getting in a group buy and get a kit which usually includes everything except the lower which can be bought for around 150.00 or less and the BBG about 175.00 other wise everything else is there , I posted alink on a group buy and even though there is a waiting period to get the kit it may be worth it to just get in line, http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.htm...f=121&t=636628Comment
