Russian SKS Build Kits Source Question
Tags: None -
The best source is a complete gun.
I don't see building an SKS from parts as a viable option considering the cost of parts vs the cost of a complete rifle.
You probably got a "great" deal on that barreled action BECAUSE it's going to cost you more to complete than a similar complete gun would have cost.
But here is what you are looking for:
EveryGunPart offers a huge selection of gun parts kits & accessories for builds & repairs. Browse quality parts online & order today with secure checkout.
Or just buy a complete one like this:

^^^ I'm finding this out now. I had no idea how expensive and difficult to source the parts are. However, it could be a fun little winter project and I didn't get into guns to save money.Last edited by shooter777; 08-23-2019, 9:59 AM.Comment

I have a nice Butler Creek syn stock set. They don't make them anymore but it was perhaps the nicest / sturdiest syn stock for SKS.
It’s yours for just the price of shipping if you want it!
Note that it is NOT cut for a bayonet. The bayonet would have to be removed (or in your case, just not purchased and installed?).
I just pulled a Russian out of it. You could do a nice camo paint job over it, would probably look slick with the right pattern.

Buy one of those gunsmith specials and source from that, Aim Surplus has some now for $300. But then again for just $20 more you could get a complete SKS in good condition from Classic Firearms.
Also, you could try contacting audiophil2, he might have some damaged SKSs from previous group buys that he could strip out what you need.---------------------

Those are Chinese.
I would stick with Russian parts on a Russian barrel/receiver.
They are probably compatible, but man-oh-man what a mixmaster you make when you mix countries...Randall Rausch

Thank you all for the advice. I actually ended up cancelling the order and buying a Draco 12.25" pistol. I wasn't finding trigger packs for the sks for under 150 bucks. I probably would have dropped 500 bucks to build the dang thing.Comment

^^^^Lol, I was actually really excited for an sks build over the winter among a few other projects. I sold my own Yugo that I got here years ago. That was a mistake..But man, these prices are crazy! My flaw was not looking at parts prices before hand and the difficulty of keeping things consistent. Thank you for the words of wisdom. At least Circle10 was cool and let me put the proceeds towards another gun.
So I decided to build up a Draco pistol with a side folding brace. I'm going to install the Stormwerkz buffer tube adapter and side folder. Now I just need a good muzzle device. I've heard good things about the PWS combo brake/hider.Last edited by shooter777; 08-27-2019, 4:14 PM.Comment
