Can this gew be fixed?

Go this old gew receiver and it has a dent at the end. Can it be bent back? If not could the bent part be milled off? This would take a few of the threads that hold the barrel though.
The dent is in the way so a barrel can't be put in. Also I think it needs some of the threads on the outside so a stock nut can fit on it.
I'm wondering if it is super soft metal or what dented it.

Take it to a gunsmith and have him chase the threads with the correct tap & die combo, otherwise you're weakening the receiver, which is a BAD IDEA.

Yeah I'm not gonna try hammering it myself..

So the thread die for the barrel will correct the dent?

The inside threads look sharp but the outside thread is a bit mashed at the dent.

Have to try fixing the threads inside and out and see what happens.
A little loss of thread area won't be a problem.

However, it looks like there may be grooves in there for the bolt lugs (?).
Will the bolt function with it as is?
make sure everything else is OK before spending money on the breech end of the barrel (hopefully the receiver itself is not damaged).

bolt drops in and locks when turned so pretty sure the receiver is not bent.
I don't want to restore it kinda want to build a sporter style rifle. Got a nice turn down spoon handle bolt for it.

GEW 88 receivers are soft.

I would single-point chase those threads.
A tap is probably not going to get a straight start and might screw up the other threads in the process.
