    welded Barrel???

    Hi CG Crew,

I bought a used upper from an online retailer. The condition was said to be good overall with maybe some slight wear. I took a chance as the reviews seemed to be great.

The flash hider was pinned and it appears that someone went a little overboard on the welding. I questioned the retailer and they told me that this is normal. Should I be worried about the integrity of the barrel?

    That's not weld.
That looks like either carbon buildup or rust that's been painted or blued over.

Blasting and re-parkerizing will tell the whole story.
If the barrel ends up all clean after blasting, it was carbon buildup.
If the barrel is pitted after blasting, it was rust.
