Harbor freight. You can get a welder for less than $100.
Emotional appeal is a marketing tactic and not a foundation for effective argument.

what! no way i would love that. i was scoping some out just for kicks at HD and saw $300 plus. I feel like this would be a cool new skill to have. Thanks man ill look more into it. Can i ask what separates this $100 unit to the bigger ones? like what limitations does this have that makes it so much more affordable

Look on craigslist for an old Lincoln tombstone, they last forever and will weld anything you need

Just a public service announcement: Protect not only your eyes from the light, but also any exposed skin, i.e. do not wear short sleeves when welding.

haha yea ill pick up the safety gear from HF. I take risk in shorts and sandals while casting with no face gear but ive seen how crazy dangerous welding can be.

                        Quality and features.
More expensive machines are generally easier to make better welds with.

My main welder cost $2800 plus another $500 in cables, regulator, torch and pedal.
My secondary welder is a $5000 welder that I bought used for $1000 and then bought another $1500 worth of accessories for $700.
Then I have a little $1000 welder that I got used for $500.

Take a welding course at a community college and build it there with quality welding equipment.
