S&W 659 Extractor Search

I need an extractor for a S&W 659. Right now, GPC says the stainless one is no longer available, and has only the blued one which fits a variety of models.

It is absolutely a first-world problem, a blued extractor on a stainless slide, but I am wondering if any of you might suggest an alternative source of parts, and if not, whether I should simply fold and go with the blued one, or patiently wait for something to turn up. Thanks...

You could get a blued one and then have a machine shop duplicate it in stainless for you.
Should not cost more than a couple hundred bucks.
Alternatively, you could get the blued one hard chromed for maybe $100.

Get a blued one and polish it to stainless finish. (Just keep it oiled)

I'm the original owner of the 659, and I've shot it a fair amount, but I have no idea what the round count is right now. A few thousand, maybe. I admit, I was a little taken aback by the extractor failure, and again by the lack of availability of replacement parts, but I guess it is a common problem as guns age. What do I know? Apparently, not much.

I have a 1076 which I hardly shoot, but it got me thinking, maybe it wouldn't be dumb to salt away an extractor for it. I already regret not buying more spare mags for that one when they were available for <$35 each.

Any of you save a few critical parts like that for a rainy day?

30 years went by pretty fast. Like I said, what do I know? I have a couple M1 Garands that are much older than that, but I can get parts from lots of places (admittedly, they made a few more of those than S&W did of the 659). Once upon a time, I ordered parts from GPC for a handgun that was 60 years old (closer to 80 now), and they had exactly what I needed.

Interesting site. They take a firearm, cut or remove the receiver, and sell it for at least as much as it would cost as a whole gun. Look at this M1A, which appears to have had the receiver cut just behind the breech. Hindsight being 20/20, it would be more cost-effective to simply buy two of whatever firearm catches your fancy, and use one for shooting while keeping the other pristine as a source of parts.
