    Advanced Cerakote Knowledge

I've been doing a bit of home Cerakoting and wondered if anybody had experience with adding oven cure Cerakote over air dry. I was thing of doing some patterns over the base coat in the other formula.
    Any thoughts?

Several ways to do it, but if the ceracoat has been on the gun for some tome, you may to start fresh, with degreasing and sand blasting. I’ve done freehand patterns where I had several colors mixed in different spray guns, and do freehand patterns, and bake. Or if your using decal patterns, spray one color there flash bake for 15 minutes and do second color, continue flash baking 15 minutes until all colors are done. Then finish bake cure process. They have a lot of literature on their website. I’ve used both air and oven cure on a rifle, both can be baked. The ovencure very important to degrease extra well.

The couple times we cerakoted we have oven cured. I could be wrong but I believe you get a better and more uniformed cure when oven baked.

          Start fresh is better.

Don't forget the new Elite series which are thinner, though not as many color choices at the moment since it is newer:
