Weatherby trigger guard

Hey group,
I have an older Weatherby Orion 12 ga over/under (not current production) that the front of the trigger guard is loose. I've looked everywhere online that I can think of and haven't been able to find how to tighten it. The exploded view shows the front having what looks like a stud with threads, but when I tear down the gun, I can't see the front area due to everything being built right over that. Does anyone have first hand knowleage of this?

Remove rear trigger Guard screw and tighten the trigger guard by turning clockwise. The front stud IS threaded and screws into the receiver.

The rear of the trigger guard has a cross pin that is recessed and doesn't have the screw that is shown in the diagrams. I'll try to post pictures this weekend.

So what is your problem, just drive rear pin out and turn the trigger guard in on the front threaded pin. And if it doesn't go around all the way take it out all the way and add a shim washer and retighten..

I did this and the threads on the trigger guard are gone. The threads in the hole look ok. I guess I need a new trigger guard.

If this is a repair primarily out of function, you could replace the stud at the front of the triggerguard with a screw.
That would add a screw head to the gun that's not originally there, but it would be a very simple repair that would not require new parts beyond a screw.
If this is more about keeping the gun absolutely correct, then a new triggerguard is the answer, but probably harder to acquire.

Did you try Weatherby? They still market a version of the Orion, and may still support it. Is yours Japanese or Italian Mfg?

Weatherby set me to SKB, they have a few that will fit but don't look the same. I would like it to look original but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

What is different about the SKB one? The finish? Another option would be to mount a threaded stud in the existing TG and re-machine or tap the hole to match. Its labor inten$ive but that is the nature of custom type work.

There might also be some room in the trigger plate to cross pin it.

I might try welding another stud on it, but the metal it threads into is very thin. The cross pin idea might work best.
