    My Magpul trigger gaurd install

I got my magpul enhanced trigger gaurd in today (thanks to fusionstar) and here's how it turned out.

It was an ordeal to get the damn rear pin in. As you can see, it kinda flattened out where I was hammering.

And it didn't quite go through all the way. It's still inside the other ear hole, just not completely. Nothing bad will come of this right?

What kind of punch did you use? A roll pin punch is what should have been used, this keeps the pin from deforming.

If the pin started into the opposite ear for the trigger guard then you should be fine, some will just not like the look you have. It's up to you to leave it like it is or have the pin replaced and driven in correctly.

Wow... What punch did you use? Or did you just use a hammer? I used an oversized center punch and it didn't even do that...

I used just a hammer... I don't have my pin punch set yet.

I have installed a bunch and I have always found the pin that comes with the magpul is very very tight. I always reused the stock mil spec pin that I removed from the factory guard.
just use the correctsize punch, support the ears and punch it out and resue the same pin with the magpul guard

Would have been better to use a pressing device as a padded vise or taped jawed pliers.

If it went through the other ear, you gtg. It just looks different... Worst case, you can always try taking your lower to Riflegear in Costa Mesa and asking them to help you remove the pin. They're pretty nice folk.

                Two things.
Use oil before driving the pin through the hole.
That lower receiver is out of spec.

I am curious, what is out of spec.? Do you think the hole was undersized for the roll pin?

To the OP, I would drive out the pin and put in another one.

That's what I'm planning to do.

What do you guys mean by "out of spec"? The pin DID in fact enter the 2nd ear, but it didn't want to go any further, so the exposed nub mushroomed.

I'm prolly going to take it to Ade's to have them swap out the pins for me.

The hole centers for the holes that retain the triggerguard.

I thought you were having a hard time putting the pins in because they did not align correctly.
I guess you are just skill-challenged with punches and hammers.

The Magpul trigger guard did not fit the holes correctly on my Noveske lower - the standard single pin would not go straight through. I have to assume the lower is a quality mil-spec part

I got around this by cutting the roll pin in half with my dremel and creating two smaller pins which I drove in from both left and right.

Since the guard does not seem to fit correctly OOB make sure you install the set screw first on the front then install the pins.

                              No you don't.

Don't ASSUME it's a quality mil-spec part until it proves to be.
If it won't asemble correctly, something is obviousy wrong.
